SOUL- DANCING (adults):

WHAT IS DANCE?

Dance is an art form that generally refers to movement of the body, usually rhythmic and to music, used as a form of expression, social interaction or presented in a spiritual or performance setting.

WHAT IS DANCE THERAPY?

Dance therapy, or dance movement therapy is the psychotherapeutic use of movement and dance for emotional, cognitive, social, behavioral and physical conditions. Dance movement therapy strengthens the body/mind connection through body movements to improve both the mental and physical well-being of individuals. As a form of expressive therapy, dance movement therapy is founded on the basis that movement and emotion are directly related.

How does Soul-Dancing operate?

Soul Dancing is facilitated through different dance processes where one can work through different emotions (anger, joy, pain, lightness, love and fear) that every human being encounters throughout life, in utilizing their own body movements and personal expression; one can find a healthy balance and sense of wholeness, which is the purpose of dance movement therapy.

The aim of this workshop is to clear ourselves from all of life’s burdens, a way of becoming lighter…whereupon entering back into the world we remain lifted and joyful, not allowing ourselves to be drawn and pulled down by negative energy or external forces. The workshop will deal with our different emotions, from anger to joy, from fear to love and from pain to lightness. We will be exploring our own self-acceptance in the aim of becoming more ok with who we are and our bodies. Furthermore, profound sharing will take place, uncovering the truth, allowing ourselves to become true and authentic again in an environment of total intimacy with fellow participants…Discovering the meaning of real love in comparison to the ‘ordinary’ love…Freeing ourselves. Entering into a sacred space… through Soul Dancing…

“I want to know if you can sit with pain, mine or your own
without moving to hide it, or fade it, or fix it.
I want to know if you can be with joy, mine or your own
if you can dance with wildness and let the ecstasy fill you to the tips of your fingers and toes
without cautioning us to be careful, be realistic, or to remember the limitations of being human…” – Oriah Mountain Dreamer
